Princess Charlene’s fashion “do” and “don’t”

Princess Charlene’s fashion “do” and “don’t”

Monaco was celebrating its National Day yesterday and Charlene Witstock attended the celebrations for the first time as the Princess wife of the monarch of the country, Prince Albert.

DO:

At the Thanksgiving Mass, Princess Charlene looked demure in a chic and stylish outfit very much reminiscent of 50s glam. The top of the outfit was dominated by a minimalistic cape coat in simple A line, but the way it was styled in, stressed out and flattered her slim figure; belted at the waist so that it formed a peplum around the thighs, the rich volume of the cape contrasted the straight skirt, which followed her toned, athletic legs.

A discreet, total beige outfit for an official ceremony. The blonde and fair Princess would look equally sophisticated in sapphire or olive green, which would make the ensemble more modern and upbeat, matching the young age and great looks of Charlene.

A-line cape, belted at the waist to outline a slim figure.

The sleeves open with a zipper to reveal elbow-high leather gloves.

Beige and gold medium length, straight skirt, imitating the effect of croco leather.

Two-tone beige and brown pumps.

 DON’T:

Later that day, for the evening gala, Princess Charlene changed her outfit for a dark brown velvet long gown, in which she seemed totally lost; wrong color, wrong fabric, wrong neckline, and the high cut on the leg couldn’t save it. Where I grew up, they’d say of such an outfit that “she wore her curtains to the ball” and I guess in Monaco they would not disagree either.

Someone tell Charlene that she needn’t conceal her charms or look more grown-up to be a fantastic Princess.
