Luxury, quality, creativity; contemporary Indian designers

I have long admired the work of Indian breakthrough designers such as Manish Arora and I have come upon many articles about the emergence of the Indian fashion industry in the last couple of years. Although, it wasn’t until I learnt about “Strand of Silk” that I really got to know what Indian contemporary designers stand for.

It all started with a Cheese and Wine event at Abacus London. There, at the “Strand of Silk” showcase event, I was bedazzled by the detailed work, the fine silk, the delicate embroidery and the creative imagination of Indian designers like Meera Mahadevia, Siddarta Tytles (Bollywood’s favourite fashion designer), AM:PM, Rajesh Pratap Singh and the “King” of Indian fashion, Tarun Tahiliani, who even dressed Lady Gaga during her visit to India.

Glamorous clutches by Meera Mahadevia, sparkle with gems for that special evening.

This pink and gold scarf stole my heart. The picture doesn't do much justice. You have to see it and feel it to understand the quality of the silk, the playfulness of the colors and the detailed work on the fabric.
