As I had successfully predicted since the 10th March, when I first saw the video from the McQueen catwalk in Paris, Sarah Burton was the designer assigned by the royal family to design Middleton’s wedding dress (scroll down for detailed pictures of the dress)

Greek-speakers may watch my video fashion editorial where I had made my royal dress prediction at the link below

whereas the rest of you can still enjoy visually, on the same link, an extract from Burton’s fashion show which made me feel sure she would be designing a royal wedding dress (McQueen catwalk comes after the Louis Vuitton fashion show on that video so wait until the editorial is half-way through)

Although the 36-year-old creative director of Alexander McQueen had already denied rumors of designing Kate’s wedding dress, her fashion show in Paris was a revelation. An experienced eye could see that Burton would be THE designer. What made me feel so sure about it? The Elizabethan gowns with the choker collars worked as a clue to fashion insiders; they made the catwalk appear as Burton’s rehearsal to become the royal family’s new beloved designer, as well as a flash-back to the history of British fashion throughout the centuries, viewed through a modern spectrum.

Far from those theatrical catwalk gowns though, Princess Catherine’s wedding gown was relatively simple and romantic.

Long lace sleeves, low V-neck, satin gazar skirt, veil and a Cartier tiara gave a romantic touch to the wedding dress while keeping it modern and down-to-earth at the same time.

The train was only 2 meters long, which made it flexible and easy to walk with – contrary to Diana’s dress’ 8-meter train that needed 2 bridesmaids to follow the bride at all times and carry it around.

Finally a dress that isn’t strapless. Maybe the style will change away from strapless dresses.

That would be nice indeed. The most amazing wedding dresses I have seen are long-sleeved from Elie Saab, not strapless.
