Two degrees off the Arctic Circle – by Christos Koukelis

A photographic exhibition by Christos Koukelis with landscapes of Iceland inaugurated in London yesterday, 12 July 2012.

The project “Two degrees off the Arctic Circle” was created during September 2011 when the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists (SÍM) invited Christos Koukelis to a month-long artist residency in Reykjavik.

Starting from the capital, Koukelis embarked on a 1400km (840 miles) journey around this unique island in the North-Atlantic where he encountered amazing sceneries shaped by volcanic eruptions and carved out by glaciers.

During this exhibition, he will present seven large panoramic photographs together with another thirty-five photographs of the series in the form of a limited edition photo book.

The project and exhibition are supported by the Arts Council England, the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists and the Embassy of Iceland in London.

The exhibition will be hosted at the Embassy of Iceland London from Thursday 12 July to Friday 28 September 2012.
