Paraskevi Plevri showing in BICHA Gallery, London

Artist Paraskevi Plevri is sharing her “Landscapes of Memory” with the visitors of BICHA Gallery, London, until the 10th July.

In this solo exhibition of hers, Paraskevi explores perceptions of memory, time and space. Her rich, layered psychological landscapes are personal, infinite places, inhabited by all our imagined pasts and futures.

“Sorry to see you go” by Paraskevi Plevri. The painting is part of the “Landscapes of Memory” solo exhibition of the artist in BICHA Gallery, London.

I must say that the feelings and fears of loss and abandonment play a central role in some of the most immersive paintings of the exhibition, such as “With or Without You” and “Sorry to see you go”.

“With or Without You II”, a painting by Paraskevi Plevri. “Landscapes of Memory” exhibition, BICHA Gallery, London.

Paraskevi Plevri was born in Crete in 1976. She studied art, including theory, fresco painting, hagiography and engraving at the Athens University School of Fine Arts, taking part since in many seminars throughout Greece.

Her work has won the 1st price in the Supreme Council of Civil Employee selection in Greece and since 2001 Paraskevi has shown her work in galleries of major Greek cities including Athens. She is also teaching art at the Iraklio art college in Crete. This is her first exhibition abroad.

The paintings of “Landscapes of Memory” reflects what Professor Yiannis Gourtzis of the Athens School of Art says about the artist; “Plevri  is a slow burning fire which spreads in a firm and steady manner, often starting from the point where one thinks it has almost gone out.  The very moment that she strives to give life to the large form, she persists with the detail of her story telling as if it were a sudden scream in the midst of continuous sobbing”

“Landscapes of Memory” is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 11 am to 7 pm. BICHA Gallery, 7 Gabriel’s Wharf, South Bank, London, SE1 9PP, tel. 0044-(0)2079280083
